Every year during the holidays, I host a gingerbread house decorating party for my daughter and her friends. This was the inspiration for the Mini Holiday Hostess Kits from Undercover Hostess. I fell in love with the adorable reindeer paper cups, so I wanted to create a party with a very playful theme in mind. The dancing Santa straws and over-sized pinwheel decorations make it difficult not to get jolly about this party!

I love when a party has a few touches of sparkle throughout, so I knew I wanted to incorporate this when choosing decor. The trim on the pinwheels are accentuated by glitter, the “Be Merry” banner sparkles in red and white, and a silver sequins table runner creates a gorgeous shimmery look. It reminds me of the snow and beautiful holiday lights that are synonymous with this season. The remainder of the party was styled with decorations from around my house. This included the nutcrackers, the vases filled with silver bells, and the woolly rug which my daughter called “snow”.

For the food, I wanted simple and kid friendly. I constructed a “snowball tree” from powdered donuts, popcorn for a warm snack, and milk (because what else would Santa serve at the North Pole?). As a special holiday sweet, I had a “north pole cupcake” created. It is a vanilla cupcake topped with a gingerbread cookie, and a paper straw is used for the North Pole. Displayed in a red polka dot cupcake wrapper, it looks like a treat you would find in Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen.

I adore this party for the youthful and playful holiday spirit it brings out in all of us. My daughter loved all the reindeer and Santa characters, and thoroughly enjoyed devouring that cupcake! I want to be able to bring that same smile to all children’s faces.
