Of all the different party types that come my way, one of my FAVORITE things to see is a very well-done character party. Maybe it’s because I have kids that love these characters too, or maybe it’s because I’ve heard SO many people complain about how much they struggle with making character parties also look stylish… or maybe it’s a little bit of both. In any case, today’s feature is a wonderfully bright & shining example of how to bring a character party to life in style!

P&J by Design did an AMAZING job with this Octonauts Inspired Birthday Party… from the great mix of patterns and textures to the insanely cute Octonauts themed treats that look like mini works of art. They also managed to create an atmosphere that works well for the grown-up guests and little ones alike!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

• Gorgeous tier cake with incredibly detailed fondant Octonauts characters on top
• Different, yet coordinating tablescape designs for the kids and adults
• White sequin dessert table cover + sugar cookies displayed in oversize sea shells

PARTY DETAILS as told by Betty…

Paris loves all things Octonauts so it was only fitting his party was going to include all the characters and we had to make it was going to be as fun and colourful as possible.

I took the approach of creating a modern, contemporary look for this Octonauts inspired birthday party. My vision was to have a fresh, crisp and summer ambiance feel to also compliment the glorious weather we had on the day . Therefore, our colour pallet consisted of lots of blues, greens , orange of course and white. To keep with our vision we used a Chevron print throughout the party, which included the buffet table, and adults tables. Again, this kept it very modern and contemporary.

We started off working with Lee-Ann from Little Poppet Parties who designed and handmade the amazing Octonauts inspired invitations. They were super cute. She also designed the KWAZII KITTEN table centerpieces for the kids tables.

The dessert table was bright and colourful. The Octonauts colour pallet is bright and colourful, so it was quite easy to have fun with it. We were able to use & place Paris’s Octonauts toys on the dessert table.

The amazing birthday cake was created my the talented Vincent from Van Goh Cakes. This was simply a masterpiece! It consisted a 3 tiers and a gorgeous cake topper. Again, we incorporated the chevron print on the second tier. The bottom tier was designed to give the illusion of waves, and of course the top tier keeping it very modern in soft blues. The cake topper, well simply put – amazing! We were also fortunate to have him create the gorgeous seaside cupcakes too.

Deserts were made by the lovely Katrina from Bespoke Bakery. She did an incredible job with those character cake pops…too cute to eat! She also made some wonderful chocolate covered oreos with the Octonauts logo on top.

Noo from Dessert Menu, Please hand piped those amazing biscuits you see in the pictures. The detail was stunning.

We also incorporated a kids drink station which included Octo Juice for all the kids .

This party was not only for the kids to enjoy we had a huge number of adults to cater for , so we decided to have a sit down lunch for them. The adults tables were styled again using lots of bright orange florals, and beautiful chevron print napkins and table runners – all setting the theme for a summer lunch.

The kids also had a dedicated lunch area. My Paper Planet handmade the Octonauts hats for all of the kids to wear. We also hired the kids tables and perfect little blue chairs from Mini Party People. Using the custom printables, we designed labels for the water bottles and napkin rings as well.

Needless to say, it was such a fun day and a memorable birthday for Paris and for all his friends and family!!
