Simply Stylish Picnic First Birthday Party
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are the sweetest. For her daughter Lucy’s first birthday, Lisa Taylor Rosenfeld of A Lovely Mess wanted something sweet and intimate to reflect a wonderfully sweet first year — and so this Simply Stylish Picnic First Birthday Party was born! I love that she incorporated pieces from her wedding, like that awesome vintage white table and all of the beautiful lace. Such a good reminder that while fancy venues & menus certainly have their place, sometimes it’s best to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ones you love.
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Gorgeous handmade quilts & hanging lace throws on a clothesline at a lovely park venue
- Floral tin boxes for the green & yellow wildflower arrangements + low wooden table
- DIY mason jar iced coffees + tea sandwiches, mini donuts, flower cookies & fruit skewers
- Adorable felt flower headband & matching floral print dress for the birthday girl
PARTY DETAILS, as told by Lisa…
Here is a peek at my daughter Lucy Joy’s first birthday part in Bronson Canyon Park in Los Angeles. We wanted to have an intimate party in the woods with just a few little girls. It was a beautiful morning and all of the guests enjoyed eating treats, exploring and playing tea party in the woods.
Most of the quilts used were made by close friends as baby or wedding presents. The farm table (lowered for the occasion), side table, mirror and lace were reused from our wedding — I have been keeping them in the basement for a special occasion and this certainly fit the bill.

- Treats: The Village Bakery
- Florist: Clementine Floralworks
- Photographer: Hello Pinecone
