PARTY DETAILS, as told by Miranda…
I was very excited to put together this party for my baby girl! She has loved Lalaloopsy since it first came out! Way before the craze and when there were like only TWO dolls out! I loved it because it had my little girl’s name in it. Ever since she was an infant our twin boys could never say Mykayla and it always came out as “LaLa”, which began to stick and is what she now goes by. We were shopping in Target one day and noticed the Jewel Sparkles doll and the fact that they were called Lalaloopsy’s! When I saw this we had to get the doll! So since my baby is a princess always to us and she loves Lalaloopsy and the first doll she received was the Jewel Sparkles, I decided to combine it all for her 3rd Birthday!
I created the printables for the party but didn’t want to go overboard with them. I wanted to bring in more of the buttons and soft features like the doilies and crowns with lots of light pinks and greens with just a pop of the brighter pink.
I did realize just how big the 36″ balloons where till they were put up but I just love them! I used two of the large foam boards from Hobby Lobby and hot glued them together and added white fabric to the front. From there I used the wider ribbon and buttons to make the backdrop. The fabric bunting was something I made as well! It’s 4ft long and also available in the shop here and here! I used pink satin fabric from Hobby Lobby as well for the tablecloth. They are actually my daughters curtains that I had yet to sew and being that they were sitting in my sewing room calling my name I just knew they would be perfect on the table. They come in very handy for lots of parties now!
I was so lucky to find Fairytale Jubilee for my LaLa’s headpiece and dress! I wanted a Jewel Sparkles dress but one that didn’t look store bought. I was amazed at what she created. Mind you all before any of the other dresses showed up in the stores.
Her tank top was a last minute purchase only because I totally forgot to get one! Mine & Beth’s Creations did an awesome job. They were friendly, fast and didn’t mind all my changes to make it match my theme!
My mother made the wonderful fondant topper of Jewel Sparkles for LaLa’s smash cake. I choose to do a smaller cake for my children every year so that it is something of their own. My mother mainly works with clay art and other works of art over at Bonehead Studios! Now the cute little seam binding ribbon tassel was made by the famous Purple Pug and was a perfect addition to the cake.
The cute painted berry boxes came from my sister over at Cute Kids Food Box. I really liked them since they were not only painted but I added washi tape around the edges for an extra pop. The wonderful fondant pieces came from Lynlee over at Lynlee’s Petite Cakes. She never ceases to amaze me!!
Of course my party would never be without a wreath from Natalie from The Knock-Knock Factory who also created the gorgeous crown!
I got great inspiration from The Purple Pug when she did the glitterized flatware for her son’s party! I really liked that idea so much! So with her permission they are now available in the shop too here!! I used fringe garland as my napkin holder with a button glued on! Simple but a great touch.
The cookies were by Dandy Delights and made to match the printables. She also created the mini button cookies that were in the mini mason jars with doilies under the lids that were placed on the thank you shelf. She always does an awesome job! I used large doilies as my placement mats and plain cups with button stickers added!
The rag wreath above our drink station was the perfect touch from Sweet Georgia Sweet!
Aimee Broussard made this gorgeous “Aproness” for my baby girl! She actually saw the invitation and surprised me with the aproness. LaLa loved it and wore it the first day it arrived! After which it was put up for safe keeping till the party day. And the cutest hairbow came from Dapper Duckling Designs!
for the thank you area, I found an inexpensive bookcase on craigslist and spray painted it beige and then added glitter 12×12 scrapbooking paper on the bottom of each shelf for a little extra wow! The gumball necklaces are made by me and the kids loved them!
The Lalaloopsy cake pops came from Evie & Mallow Cake Pop & Party Shoppe! These guys were HUGE!!!! And they tasted awesome!! You can see just how big they are in one of the photos of LaLa trying to eat one!
I wanted to do milk bottles but those things are so very expensive!!! So I spent a couple of weeks drinking Starbucks and voila! I dipped the tops in pink chocolate and pink jimmies!! Of course edible glitter as well! You should have seen the look on the kids faces when they realized they could take the chocolate off the tops and eat them!! I used washi tape and buttons for the straw flags as well!
Now, everyone has a small hiccup (I hope it’s not only me…) and mine this year was the cake…. let’s just say.. I almost lost it/passed out/about died… I get a phone call about 15 minutes after my husband went to pick up the cake… I’m (for the first time EVER) ready to go prior to guests arriving…. when I answer the call. I hear “the cake collapsed”……this is me taking in what he said and thinking he’s joking, so then I laugh and say… “nice try, does it look good?”……………….pause…………… nothing…………….. OMG! He then says…“I’m not kidding… it really collapsed… I was so afraid to call and tell you…..” Now I so very much wanted to just cry… what was I going to do?! I had the cake made to be the center of the dessert table and I was so very heartbroken.. So I get a call from the bakery and the designer is rushing back and they will get something together….. Apparently my choice of “let’s double each layer” was not really allowed with a strawberry cake since it is too moist?! and I was never given this memo…. Needless to say… an hour and a half later VOILA! Gotta give them props for how fast they worked! All was well and hubby went to pick it up and this time it did not fall… Thank goodness!
Kristy over at the Purple Pug makes the most AWESOME EVER cake buntings with glitter and lots of love and…well I gave it to the cake shop to place on the cake and it was lost… Needless to say I won’t be doing that again. It was found later that week though in their drawer.
My sister over at Cute Kids Food Box also sent me the plastic milk bottle and they worked perfectly for a party favor holder!!
I contacted Piggy Bank Parties and asked if they could create some favor boxes for me and wow! These cute button boxes were so perfect and everyone loved how beautiful they were. The tiny Lalaloopsy necklaces were made by my mother!! She handmade them with clay!! Each little got to go home with one!
All the wonderful photography was done by Sandra Bludau Photography. She spent so much time getting just the right photos of the party and of my darling princess. I will forever be in her debt at how gorgeous the photos turned out!
