Pinwheels and Polka Dots Party Highlights

• Homemade pinwheels, paper garlands, buntings, oversize confetti… it’s a DIY party dream! Merav of T.W. Bean {and mom of the darling guest of honor} made everything herself – including her daughter’s adorable hair clip and birthday shirt.
• There’s great inspiration to be found here for birthday celebrations of any age… and I think this party would make for a super cute summer baby shower too;  just add in some polka dot onesies and fabric-flower-adorned socks and headbands! :)

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Merav…

When it was time to plan my daughter’s first birthday party I knew that it was my one and only chance to plan it just the way I wanted. In the future Geffen, my daughter, will have lots of opinions about the characters and colors of her party so I wanted to create an event that was fun and playful.

The theme of pinwheels and polka dots came to mind when I chose colors that had a playful but not “baby” feel to them-grey, red, teal, sage green and tan. For decoration I used pinwheels in the party colors, bunting, oversize confetti, polka dot signs and garlands – all of which I made myself. We had a family brunch in our yard for about 30 people. Our menu included: mini pancakes, mini egg biscuit sandwiches, mini quiche, fig and brie pizza, pear/asiago and caramelized onion pizza, mini caprese skewers, yogurt parfait, lox and latkes (potato pancakes), fruit, vegetables and cake. Since it was all family I didn’t make party favors, but I did make Geffen and shirt and hairclip to match the party colors!
