PARTY DETAILS, as told by Anne-Marie…
I was asked to do a Grave Digger Monster truck 4th birthday party for a client that I had event decorated two weeks prior to for her other sons first birthday. I challenged myself to make it youthful and vibrant since the Grave Digger colors and characteristics are dark and gloomy. I really had to tap into creative mode to try to pull this off to appeal to children and adults alike. My creative juices started flowing and I decided to start with the truck design. The incredibly talented Rachel, from Printed Ink, began on the design. I wanted to keep the color concept true to the original so I had her make the colors brighter and tweaked it slightly by adding more yellow in keeping with the appeal of it all. I really loved how the truck turned out with the flame and checkered border all around. I love to personalize so we added a 4 and titled it “Kyan’s Monster Jam.”
From there we created the coordinating tent cards, napkin rings, hershey kisses labels, and favor bags to coordinate with the backdrop. The various elements included the skull and cross bones flag, purple ghost, his name, age, truck, and tires.
We also tied in the desserts which is always the most exciting aspect for me! The candy and desserts matched the backdrop colors and printable details as well. I couldn’t have been happier with the craftsmanship of KM Cake Pops for all of the amazing cake pops! That Grave Digger monster truck she created was a masterpiece! Cake Dimensions created all the details in the cookies and it was not lost on me! I loved each and every one! Cake Dimensions was also responsible for the incredible cake. I told her I wanted a monster tire for the bottom tier because a monster truck wouldn’t be a monster truck without the monstrous tires! I then requested the second tier to mirror the design of the backdrop. The fondant banner topper with Kyan’s name and mud on top was literally the icing on the cake. Deanna is truly talented and I couldn’t have been happier with it. She saw my vision and made it come to fruition. Kudos to her!
The table centerpieces were handcrafted by me. It’s my first time creating something like this and I do enjoy DIY projects so I dove in head first. It was time consuming, but fun to create a one of a kind design. Once again, I incorporated the design from the backdrop as well as the favor bags to tie it all in. Fortunately, I found crinkle paper from Party City that matched the colors and added it to the base. Balloons were attached in the same color scheme as the table centerpieces as well. I like how the balloons add height and a youthful factor.
The children table had a Grave Digger balloon truck that the children loved, checkered plates, napkin rings, and I custom made favor bags.
Favors included the goodies on dessert table as well as the chocolate scented soaps by Favor Boutique by Angelique that resembled tires at the center of the table. These were a smash hit with children and adults alike! I had to intercept a couple times before any one took a bite. That’s how yummy they looked and smelled!
I thoroughly enjoyed creating this one of a kind event. My little client and his parents monster jammed for 6 hours!
