Rainbow Oreos Pot of Gold - St. Patrick's Day Party Favor

Happy first day of March! If you like free printables (and RAINBOWS!) then you’re in LUCK – because Jen St. Claire of Little Sprout Creations is here with the cutest St. Patrick’s Day party favor idea – complete with downloadable tags! These would also be adorable little gifts for classmates, teachers, co-workers, etc. Read on for all the COLORFUL details from Jen…

Top of the mornin’ to you!  Show your friends and family how lucky you are to have them with a sweet set of rainbow-dipped cookies and little “pots of gold“.  Top the set off with our free printable tags (click here to download), and you’re all set for St.Patrick’s Day!

To make the set, melt white chocolate (and add food coloring) or use pre-colored Wilton Candy Melts, in all the colors of the rainbow.  Dip your favorite sandwich cookies, one in each color, and allow to set. (You can use tweezers to hold the cookie while dipping. If there is enough chocolate the grabbing mark will not show.)

Fill the bottom of a cello bag with individually wrapped Rolo candies (or any gold wrapped candy), and stack your rainbow cookies on top.  Twist the bag closed and tie on our printable tag.”

I tried this and I failed. Horribly! As soon as I added the food coloring to the chocolate, it did this weird texture. Kinda “chalky” like… what did I do wrong?
