Joanna Dyckhoff sent over pictures of a modern co-ed bridal shower she recently hosted – and I have one word to describe it – “Wow”! Everything was super contemporary and perfectly coordinated, from the hand-made invitations to the flower centerpieces, party favors…even the room decor! Check out how creative these invitations are that Joanna designed and created…

The invitation consisted of a printed vellum overlay which opened to a irridescent invite backed with chocolate colored cardstock and wrapped in wavy wire. Vellum, paper and cardstock from Paper Zone .

Now, on to the amazing floral arrangements & party decór…

I’m loving Joanna’s artsy floral designs – which featured curled up wire, floating flowers, orchids and wire wrapped grasses. And how about those adorable ladybug cookies?!

*Party Tip: One really great party tip that Joanna displays well in this baby shower is how important it is to modify your space/venue to coordinate with the color palette of your party. This raspberry, chocolate, and lime green party just wouldn’t look the same if it was set up in a room filled with red and blue pillows and home accessories.

If you’re throwing a party in your home and your regular room colors clash with your party colors, temporarily remove pillows, vases, even wall decór if possible – and replace them with accessories that work with your theme. No need to buy everything – borrow as much as you can from friends and family, or “fake it” by re-covering pillows, couches, etc – like Joanna did here. She actually purchased these chocolate slip-covers for her couches and wrapped her regular accent pillows with fabric that coordinated with the theme. No sewing required – the fabric was just wrapped around the pillows and knotted in the back!

The cool white paper lanterns pictured in the photo above are from Shoji Decor and were embellished with pink tassles.

Joanna’s fabulous-looking party favors were made with chocolate colored pillow boxes from Packaging Specialties and wrapped with pink tulle, lime green grosgrain ribbon, dark pink raffia and then sealed with a coordinating diecut paper medallion. Inside each favor were 2 white peony tea bags , 1 homemade green tea scented soy wax candle and 1 Choxie chocolate square.

And the very cool & funky corsage for mom-to-be was created from aluminum wire wrapped with a crimped wire, with grass blades and an orchid tucked into the wire.
