REAL PARTIES: “Bollywood Bling” Theme
Bird from Bird Crafts created such a fun, vibrant celebration for her wedding anniversary this year! The party had an ultra-colorful “BOLLYWOOD BLING” theme that would actually work great for all kinds of summer celebrations – birthday parties, bridal showers, cocktails parties, etc.
I’m especially loving the giant paper pom poms hanging above the dessert table and the sparkly rhinestone details on the glass candle holders and blue paper elephant cut-outs!

BOLLYWOOD BLING Anniversary Party
Submitted by: Bird of Bird Crafts
“This Bollywood Bling theme was inspired by spices, Bollywood, vibrant colors, hot summers and bling!
I made paper pom poms in all the different colors of the party and designed special party stationery – invitations, labels, favor tags, etc. I also designed a cut-out blue elephant that I displayed around the tables. That was a nice talking point with children and adults alike!
The desserts on the sweets table were displayed on mirror pieces to help reflect light from candles, which looked especially beautiful at night! Flowers were also displayed in clear wine carafes filled with more sweets, but you could also use sand, stones, etc. The backdrop behind the dessert table was created by attaching a piece of inexpensive orange fabric to the wall.
I used candles everywhere! Some of the candle holders were simply empty, glass yogurt pots that I decorated with ribbon and rhinestones.
The food was mainly Indian: Jalebi, Gulab Jamun and Mango Laassi, spicy curries, and conventional sweets for the children – in the vibrant party colours. I provided scoops so they could take extra sweets home in the party favor boxes and bags that I designed for the occasion.
Food labels were displayed with metal photo clips from the “dollar” (Euro) store, which tied in nicely with the “bling” theme.
Party favors included: home-made spicy mango chutney (which was also served at the party), Indian tea personalized with the party date, shimmery bangles and scented candles packaged in kitschy little fabric boxes from our local oriental shop.
The children received clear bags with watercolors and a paper mâché elephant I bought at our local equivalent of the dollar store (the euro store). All the favor bags were displayed in a miniature wheel-barrow with a plaque that read “Oriental Delights“.
We had a “Well Wishes Tree” at the entrance where our guests were encouraged to leave sweet notes or “words of wisdom”. It made for a great memento! By the tree we had a “Wishing Well” with floating candles and rose petals and some “foods for the gods” hehe.
My husband also compiled some Indian Sounds to go with the theme and help set the mood for the party.”
