In continuing with the recap of the Festival Du Bebe baby shower, here’s Part 3 – the Favors, Menu, & Activities

The party favors were fun to put together… Clear plastic boxes were filled with colorful candies, tied with a ribbon and embellished with a 3″ artificial butterfly & personalized Festival Du Bebe favor tag (2 different designs – this one and this one).

I purchased the plastic boxes for the candy at Paper Mart – they’re the Clear Tuck Top Boxes and were only $13.50 for 50 of the 3x3x4″ size (several smaller & larger sizes available too).

Click here to download the 5×7″ “Something Sweet” sign used on the favor table. (This sign would also work for a dessert table or a candy buffet!)

The favors looked cute lined up in neat rows with the 2 tag designs alternating…

The fun “tablecloth” that the favors are displayed on is actually a twin-sized duvet cover from IKEA! Some of the duvet covers at IKEA are about the same or even a little less expensive than the price of renting a tablecloth for one day, and I’ve used this one over and over for parties!

I had a bunch of rainbow unicorn pops leftover from a previous event and decided to use them as a 2nd favor option – the colors were perfect and they added some nice height to the table!

To display the unicorn pops, I filled square ceramic vases with white craft styrofoam, stuck the stems of the lollipops into the styrofoam to make them stand up, then covered the foam with a layer of colorful mini gumballs (purchased at Target).

The rim of each vase was decorated with rainbow marabou boa, and each unicorn pop was tied with a square Festival favor tag.

MENU

My co-hostess, Kimberly, made all the food and did such a great job!

The menu included: Apricot Baked Brie, French Crudite Platter, Spicy Tropical Shrimp Boats (shrimp & mango with cilantro dressing served in endive boats), Beet & Mandarin Orange Salad (colorful mix of baby beets, mandarin oranges, goat cheese, fresh mint and champagne pear vinaigrette), Cherry Spinach Salad (spinach, feta cheese, dried cherries, and pine nuts tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette), Chicken Salad, Spinach & Smoked Salmon Crepes, and Mini French Toast served with Strawberry & Blueberry preserves.

The bread basket was filled with Brioche, Mini Croissants, and Mini Baguettes, and for dessert: Individual Fruit Trifles – layers of pound cake, berries (blueberries, raspberries & blackberries), vanilla pudding and whipped cream…YUM!

ACTIVITIES

The main “activity” was simply socializing, but we did play the Celebrity Baby Name Game, which is one game that people don’t seem to mind too much – and I like that it also spurs up conversation amongst guests.

A face-painter artist friend of Jen’s – Elise from We Adorn You was on hand to give guests a little “masquerade” flair! This made for some really fun photos!

To create a special keepsake for mom, guests wrote messages to mom & baby in a copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The bright colors in the illustrations matched the party theme!

Overall this was a really fun event and best of all, the guest of honor seemed very, very happy. That’s what it’s all about! =)

Love the colorful deatils! Thanks for the pics and inspiration, you did a faboulous job! Can you put a printable for the candy table signs and the baby boy sign or welcome sign. I am planning on purchasing your items from polkadot and the table signs would be so awesome to coordinate. Thanks!

    Sandra –
I just added a free download of the candy/treat sign to this post (right below the picture of the sign) – and I’ll post “boy” & “girl” signs + an 8×10 of the welcome sign this week as well (later today or tomorrow).

    Cheers,
    Jenn :)

Hi – by any chance could you please send me the recipe for the Beet & Mandarin Orange Salad (colorful mix of baby beets, mandarin oranges, goat cheese, fresh mint and champagne pear vinaigrette)? Baby shower is next weekend, and I would love to make it.
