REAL PARTIES: Hot Pink Bridal Shower
If you happen to be familiar with graphic designer Jessica Jones and her fabulously creative blog How About Orange, then it should come as no surprise that any party she creates is equally fabulous. I’m excited to share some details for you to from a super fun bridal shower she and her buddy Jill hosted for a friend last year.
I especially love the cool tissue pom arrangement pictured above, where the poms were attached to tall branches (which you can purchase at most craft stores & floral supplies, or online at places like Save-On-Crafts.com). Creating a tall arrangement like this as party decor is a great idea because it really makes a dramatic impact on the room and instantly serves as a focal point.
The party featured fun & contemporary orange and pink polka dot gift wrap paper from Target that she used as table coverings throughout the party, which really helped tie everything together. And even though the focal color was hot pink, mixing things up a little by bringing additional colors into the floral arrangements – like Jessica did with the roses above – is a great way to mix things up a little and provides a nice contrast to the mostly-pink paper pattern underneath it.
Food presentation is one of my favorite places to get creative, and the girls did a great (ok, more like an amazing job) with their buffet presentation at this shower. Honestly, how fabulous is the arrangement on the salmon sandwich tray pictured above! Other items served on the pink and orange themed buffet included mini quiches, shrimp cocktail, punch, a chocolate fountain complete with goodies for dipping, and panna cotta topped with apricots, nectarines, peaches, and golden kiwi.
And serving treats in fun dishes – like the panna cotta in wine glasses pictured below – is always an easy, impressive way to instantly dress up the table.
As a side note – remember that there’s no reason to feel like you have to create everything from scratch – especially if you’re putting a lot of effort into your party decor and food presentation! There’s absolutely no harm in picking up preprepared foods from your favorite local restaurant, takeout place, or grocery store, and then transferring everything to your own serving trays and dishes at home. As long as everything tastes good, your guests won’t mind, and you’ll be able save yourself from added stress!
Last but not least…the party favors. Jessica and Jill purchased sets of cute notecards and divided them up into packets, complete with Love stamps (to give it that bridal touch), for guests to take home as party favors. The wonderful thing about favors like these are that they’re something guests can definitely use!
For a thoughtful touch, the girls also asked guests to write notes to the bride on the extra cards. Each guest sealed her note in an envelope and marked it with the date the message should be read (like “after your first fight” or “on your second anniversary.”)
Thanks to Jessica and Jill for today’s inspiration – a fantastic-looking shower that’s definitely approachable from a planning standpoint if you want to recreate something similar at home!
