REAL PARTIES: Star Wars Birthday Party
Attention MOMS… if you have an aspiring young Jedi on your hands, he’s guaranteed to love these Star Wars party ideas from Marie LeBaron of Make and Takes! Read on for all the creative details – as told by Marie herself – plus a links to a few Star Wars-inspired craft tutorials on her blog…
“When my son turned 6, he really wanted a Star Wars themed birthday party. Even Dad got into the action, being a Jedi at heart as well! Here’s some of the fun things we did that had the kids excited from the get go!
MENU
Galactic pizza – just plain ol’ pizza, but given and super cool Jedi name!
Yoda Sodas – I found this idea listed on lots of different party idea sites. You just mix Lime Sherbet with Sprite. It was a big hit!
INVITATIONS
My son and I came up with the words for the invitation, he knows the Star Wars lines better than me. We printed and folded them into cards, adding a couple of stickers to the front, and delivered them to friends.
Invited You Are… on a Galactic adventure with … (Child name)
On… (date), You’ll take part in your Jedi Training. Your mission will be to rescue and protect Princess Leia, as she has been taken prisoner by Darth Vader.
After Galactic Pizza and Yoda Sodas, we’ll be fighting to destroy Darth Vader & the Death Star, using your Jedi force powers.
Please bring your Jedi lightsaber to aid you in your mission. You will be awarded your official Jedi Robe.
May the force be with you!
JEDI ROBE
Each child was awarded a Jedi robe when they entered the rebel ship (house). I made 7 of these, yes 7! You could make these using a robe pattern but I found an easy to follow Jedi Robe guide to use when cutting and sewing, and it worked great.
Pin the Lightsaber on a Jedi:
I found this $5 poster and taped it to the wall. Then I made these little mini paper lightsabers for each child. They pick the color and then match it to who it might go to, while wearing a Clone Wars Storm Trooper mask (found at a party store).
Destroy the Death Star:
I bought a soccer ball pinata and painted the white squares gray. Then once it was dry, filled it with candy. Then on party day, the kids hit it with their lightsabers. (Even though the lightsabers were fun to hit with, they’re not hard enough to open the pinata. So after a try or two with the lightsabers, use something harder).
Lightsaber Cake:
Cupcakes are just too easy, so I lined them all up like a lightsaber.
PARTY FAVORS/ACTIVITIES
Here’s a few links for some fun handmade party favors. The kids could make them at the party as an activity, or have them ready for the kids to play with.

We had so much fun with this party. I had rave reviews from the kids parents! I’m sure we’ll be doing it again next year!”
Thanks for the inspiration, Marie!

Love this idea!!!! specially the lightsaber cakes.
I just posted about my little nephew’s party too!
here’s the link if you are interested…
I also threw a Jedi Training Academy Party for my five-year-old, Star Wars obsessed, son in February. I made light sabers out of pool noodles and silver duct tape. The kids decorated them with some black tape too. My husband (also a Star Wars fan) made up some Jedi training moves to teach the young padawans. The kids took it so seriously!
They played “Duck, Duck, Vader” and some other games. I also made a paper mache death star as a pinata. At the end they received “official” Jedi training completion awards, signed by Yoda=). They all had a blast. If you want to see pics follow the link on our blog to the pics. Good luck!
Ooops here is the link the party on my blog.
