Real Weddings: Limoncello Yellow

Quick Jump To » Comments

I know it’s early November, but it’s supposed to be 87º in San Diego today and it’s Friday, so things just feel sunny! Perfect day for featuring a vibrant “Limoncello Yellow” wedding theme – which was captured and submitted by talented photographer Jillian Bisinger. So… even if you’re not in summer-like weather yourself, here’s a little sunshine for your screen!

(P.S. Check out the story behind the Moon Pie wedding favors below… so cute!)

Read on for lots more images and all the details, as told by the bride…

What was unique about your wedding?

We are a couple that likes to have fun. Instead of having the traditional first dance song, we decided our first dance would be to “Wanna grow old with you” from The Wedding Singer.  We also had a choreographed dance to “You’re the one that I want” from Greece.  We love music, and felt that this was a perfect fit!

Another unique item we had at our reception was the Zany Photo Booth. I felt that our guests really enjoyed drawing cards for “posing” themes, and having their picture taken! Not to mention, the photos that were taken were amazing and priceless!

We had many small details such as the groom and groomsmen wore funny socks with their tuxes.  I wore blue suede pumps, and I also brought out my black and white polka dot socks and my black Pumas (which are my absolute favorite shoe) for our reception.

The Theme

I love Yellow! It is one of the happiest colors and when I walk into a yellow room, or see a bunch of yellow flowers, I instantly feel refreshed and energized.

The Cake Topper

The cake topper we chose was “The Love Pinch.” We felt that this topper pretty much summed up our relationship.  We are very much in love, however we never take ourselves too seriously.  There is always an inside joke, always laughter, always fun.  We are best friends, and when we are around people there is not too much PDA, but there are the little things, such as the love pinch!

Our Cake

We got our Cake from Portos Bakery in Glendale.  I was torn between having the white wedding cake, and having a fun colorful one.  We decided to have the best of both worlds and have a white buttercream frosted cake, with Limoncello Yellow accents.  We had three tiers, and each was a different flavor, since we couldn’t decide on just one The top tier, our favorite, was also a cubano cake, but it had a dulce de leche filling.  It was so delicious, we had to have a piece of each tier!

The MoonPie Favor

We chose the MoonPie as our favor, because of our proposal story…
After a six hour drive to Sonoma, California, we pulled into our vacation spot which was a hotel that one of his friends managed.  When we parked, I decided that we should take the MoonPie snacks leftover from our long drive, up to our room so they wouldn’t melt the next day.  Travis wanted to leave them in the car but I insisted we bring them up now, instead of making another trip down to the car later that night.

When we got to our room, before Travis opened the door he said “close your eyes, and give me the damn MoonPies.”  I heard him toss the MoonPies into the corner of the room, and I opened my eyes to a gorgeous room, with rose petals covering the floor, candles everywhere, and a bottle of champagne in front of the lit fireplace.  Travis led me over to the chair in front of the fireplace, got down on one knee, and proposed! It was perfect, and completely unexpected or I would have left those darn MoonPies in the car!

What was your favorite part (or moment) of your wedding day?

My favorite moment was walking down the aisle. To open the doors and see my closest friends and family members smiling and knowing that they were all here to support us meant the world to me. I had my brother walk me down the aisle, and once I saw the look on my future husbands face, I instantly teared up.  It’s just that look on his face, when he first saw me in my dress, it was priceless.
