Royal Wedding Dessert Table

In continuation of PART 1 of the ROYAL WEDDING shoot posted earlier today, here we go with Part 2: the Royal Dessert Table and themed Drinks.

There are lots of fun DIY ideas to share here… including the shower curtain “table cloth” used on the dessert table and makeshift “gold cake stand” made from a garden urn + charger plate {for a total cost of $11!}.

I’d also like to give special thank you to Rebecca at HeavenScent Cakes for the beautiful tier cake she created (that matched the swirl pattern in the printables perfectly!) and Jaclyne at Heavenly Blooms for the stunning florals!

Read on for lots of *royal* images, followed by the creative details.

DESSERT TABLE Details

  • The beautiful sapphire blue organza linen is from Wildflower Linen, but you can really use any royal blue linen to set a pretty foundation for the dessert table.
  • The “cake stand” is made from a floral urn I found at a local San Diego floral supply + an extra large beaded gold charger plate. If you can’t find a metallic gold floral urn like this one, you can always use spray paint to turn one gold. 😉
  • The gorgeous cake – which served as the “centerpiece” of the dessert table – was created by Rebecca of HeavenScent Cakes. I sent her my digital inspiration board, which included the swirl pattern used throughout the printables, and she did a great job bringing the pattern to life on the cake!
  • For the dessert trays & dishes I went with all-white serveware, and dressed up a few of the trays with adhesive rhinestones.

Decorative Signs

Printable Sweets Table and “K” {for Kate} signs helped dress up the table. I spray painted the cool baroque frame for the “K” sign a shiny royal blue.

Royal Bride “Throne”

I found this cool chair-shaped plant stand at HomeGoods for only $14 and it reminded me of a miniature throne! Beautiful yellow flowers and a printable Royal Bride banner helped up the “regal” vibe.

Royal Florals

Jaclyne did an amazing job with the flowers! Little yellow pom balls were displayed in regular tea cups and oversize tea/latte mugs that I found at HomeGoods. Larger round arrangements were displayed on white pillar candlestick holders and the miniature “throne”, of course. =)

Party Circles/Cupcake Toppers

There are 2 different sheets of topper/circle designs. Design A can be utilized for any royal wedding themed party or shower, and Design B features “K” and “W” designs, so they will most likely be used mainly for Royal Wedding viewing parties… unless of course you’re throwing a bridal shower or engagement party for a couple with the exact same initials! LOL

DRINK TABLE Details/Ideas

***

Signature Drink

We chose Pimm’s Cup for our signature drink at the shoot, but you can serve anything from English Breakfast Tea to champagne-based cocktails like Bellinis or Mimosas (which are very appropriate for a brunch or early afternoon soirée). I like to display the name & recipe for signature drinks for guests, and you can download the recipe sign for Pimm’s Cup right here.

Color

Another way to approach signature drinks is COLOR. To play up the royal blue in our theme AND provide a non-alcoholic beverage idea, IZZE’s Sparkling Blueberry Soda is a perfect choice!

Garnished Glasses

Give your signature drink the royal treatment by dressing up the glasses they’re served in with things like color coordinating ribbon and adhesive rhinestone stickers {available at most craft & scrapbooking stores}.

“Blingy Ring” Drink Stirrers

To make these cute drink stirrers for everything from Pimm’s Cup cocktails to Lemonade, hot glue plastic novelty princess rings (which are available at Party City, Target, and online) to white lollipop sticks or bamboo skewers. Super cute and easy!

Royal Serving Tray

I lined a basic white serving tray with one of the printable paper patterns and embellished the front with an extra napkin ring.

Table Linens

The white & blue “table cloth” used on the drinks table is actually a cotton shower curtain from Target! The colors and pattern on this curtain were just too perfect to pass up – and it can also be utilized as a dessert table backdrop or folded down to a table runner.

Such a cute idea! I’m glad I’m not the only one throwing a royal wedding party :) I’ll be posting my results (slightly different theme – I’m using a pink color scheme) on my blog later this week (www.StarHughes.com). This is beautiful – I love the royal blue! And the flower arrangements are just gorgeous. Perfect flowers for spring!

I absolutely love this! The colors are fantastic! I would love to incorporate this idea into a baby shower I am planning for a little Prince in waiting….cannot stand the traditional baby blue, blah, blah. I am not very computer savvy though- how do you download your beautiful printables and customize?

I’m doing this theme for my sister-in-law’s bridal shower and wanted to see if there is a way to get to the printables still. I click on the link and it says that there are not any documents. Has anyone else had this problem?
