Rustic Owl-Inspired Baby Shower {Part 1}
SO very excited to share this downright fabulous RUSTIC OWLS Baby Shower with you today for a few different reasons: 1.) Let’s start with the obvious… it’s just so darn cute! (without being overly cutesie) 2.) It’s a co-ed celebration, which we still don’t see a whole lot of, so it’s always exciting when these come in… especially when they’re this well-done! And 3.) The lead designer – Kelly of A Savvy Event – is a friend from my childhood hometown – and it’s always fun to showcase the talents of a friend!
So without further adieu, here’s Part 1 of this stylish & DIY-filled soirée… which covers the tables, decorations & drinks station. The food & sweets station will be covered in Part 2 later today.
Read on for LOTS more gorgeous images {as beautifully captured by Tinywater Photography}, followed by all the creative details…
PARTY DETAILS, as told by Kelly…
“The inspiration for the shower was the Dwell Studios Owl Bedding at Giggle. Leslie and Jamie are having a baby boy and she fell in love with owls. I took a look at the bedding and my mind just started creating. I wanted a rustic feel to the shower versus a feminine feel as it was a co-ed shower and they were expecting a boy! I wanted to bring the natural elements of the twigs and wood to bring some of the outdoors inside since the shower was in April and it could have rained. The linens were also very organic as I selected the Tuscany Collections from La Tavola Linens. They also have burlap linens and I thought that was just perfect for our food and beverage tables.
A Savvy DIY
A new area for our company is A Savvy DIY. So many times our clients call us and say they want to DIY something and once they get into it they find out it is a lot more work than just having A Savvy DIY it for them. So we pulled together our creative team and started crafting away. We crafted all the owls, banners and yarn balls. It was a fun few weekends of glue, paper and yarn!
Guest Book:
We wanted to give Hootie (the nickname for the baby) a really sweet guest book of all the people that came to the shower so I got creative and started searching on Amazon. Little did I know that there are a ton of owl children’s books and I couldn’t just but one so I bought a lot of them and created Hootie’s first library. I chose one of the books for all the guests to sign and also used that as the place where they could write down all the gifts that were given to Baby Hootie and who gave Hootie the gift. This is a great idea as I don’t know how many times that little piece of paper gets lost or crumpled up or you forget who gave you something. Now you have it forever!
Food & Drinks:
It was an early afternoon shower so we did salads and sandwiches with a scrumptious dessert buffet. Keeping with the theme of everything we wanted a dessert buffet that would incorporate our owl theme so hence our OWL INSPIRED DESSERT BUFFET. I especially loved the carved out rock bowls for the candy! Artefact Design & Salvage is located on site at Cornerstone Sonoma and we were able to rent a few props from them to pull our look together! They have such amazing things!”

SO many things to love about this shower…it’s darling, co-ed and filled with so many beautiful touches!! I’m in love. Thanks for sharing something a little out of the ordinary!
This is so perfect for the outdoor lover, and anyone who loves owls too! It is an adorable theme. Something original and sweet :) http://www.skylarkmanor.com
What kind of flowers are the ones that look like yellow balls in the last shot. We are having a bumblebee theme party and the shape reminds me of a bee and would like to use them.
Thanks Danielle
This is almost exactly what i am planning for my son’s first birthday – right down to the colour pallete.
I love this! I am a HUGE owl fanatic, and this EXACTLY what I would want for my baby shower. No kids yet, but I’m excited to start a family soon!
Hi, I just wanted to know how did you make the yarn balls? And how did you get them in those glass containers?
So appealing to my senses. I prefer this than the other owl theme.
