Scotch & Chocolate 40th Birthday Party

Quick Jump To » Vendor Credits | Comments

It probably has something to do with working on this post, but nothing sounds better right about now than indulging in some good Scotch and Chocolate. Since I don’t actually have either of them on hand, I will just have to settle for this incredibly fresh and creative Scotch & Chocolate 40th Birthday Party by the talented Stephanie of Spaceships & Laser Beams. She adapted her vintage car theme collection to use for her husband’s birthday party and I just love every bit of it (even the little boy peaking behind the cake…see below)!

Everything about this party is unique & different…a.k.a. refreshing! I love that the guests came to the party for some fun, but also got a good dose of Scotch “education”, as well! The vintage cars, beautiful floral arrangements, wooden pedestals, bunting banners, and vibrant color palette all came together beautifully. Oh, and don’t get me started on all the beautiful chocolates – from truffles to the fudge, they all look delicious! Even the bite-sized food (which happens to all be vegan) was perfectly displayed!

Please read on for more FRESH photos + all the party details…

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Stephanie

“It’s a fact only known to the most dedicated of scotch drinkers that single malt scotch and chocolate go together like peanut butter and jam. So when my husband Mike was turning 40, we knew immediately that we were going to throw a chocolate and scotch tasting party. Separately, they’re my husband’s two favorite food groups. Together, they’re amazing as the different flavored chocolate can bring out different flavors in the single malt. Because of the vibe of the event, we used the Spaceships and Laser Beams vintage car printable collection as our party decor.”

SINGLE MALT SCOTCHES:

  • The Macallan, 18 yr
  • Lagavulin, 16 yr
  • Glen Breton Rare, 10 yr
  • The Balvenie, 12 year old

(Because some of our guests were scotch novices — including those who had never tasted scotch before — we did little write-up on each. We also had other beverages on hand.)

CHOCOLATES:

  • Handmade truffles
  • Handmade chocolates
  •  Chocolate covered pretzels
  • Chocolate peanut butter fudge
  • Chocolate chip cookies

BIT-SIZED FOOD MENU:

all vegan and super delicious

  • Hot wing with Blue Cheese Pizza Bites
  • Mini crab cake with Pea Puree
  • Mushroom, carmelized onion and brie bread pudding mini muffins
  • Cucumber cups with dill cream cheese
  • Tomato, basil, caprese style toothpick kebab
  • Avocado and mango salad rolls

BIRTHDAY CAKE:

  • Orange and Basil (amazing)

Gorgeous party! I love the scotch theme. The food looks great, but unlikely to be vegan, with blue cheese and brie. I bet the vegetarian guests were very pleased, though!

Great idea! On the summary about the scotch did you write up the history of each scotch or something else?

    • Stephanie @ Spaceships and Laser Beams August 10, 2011 at 7:21 am

Thanks for asking! We identified the region it was from and talked about the tastes and smells they would experience. Most of the information is available in the marketing materials or on the websites of each single malt scotch.
