PARTY DETAILS, as told by Monica

My daughter, Alyssa, has been obsessed with Sofia the First as soon as it came out. So this year for her Fourth birthday we decided on a Sofia the First theme and incorporated her favorite activities from the show, such as learning how to pour the perfect cup of tea. I planned a Royal Tea Party, where all the princesses and princes/knights would come dressed in royal attire, and would learn to how to be a princess/prince just like Sofia the First.

Decorations

The main focus of this party was the Royal Seating Table for the tea party in a mini ballroom setting (our living room). I draped lavender and pink tulle from the second floor to the opposite wall to give it a ballroom feel. The royal table was decorated with candelabras, tea sets, and a Royal Prep Academy Teapot. I personalized each place setting for each of the princesses and knights. Flower centerpieces added a sweet princess touch.

To keep the “princess in training” idea, I created a Royal Prep Academy (Sofia’s princess training school) table. I had the school’s logo recreated and enlarged, then hung the three head mistresses, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, from the roof as if they were flying around. Princesses and Knights received their tiaras, swords, and accessories.

Activities

Our first activity was the tea party. Our castle steward served all the princesses and knights their tea (apple juice) and snacks, just like Baileywick (Sofia’s castle steward) would do for Sofia the First. He also did a great job putting their linen napkins correctly on their laps and reminding them of their royal etiquette. After our little royal guests finished their snacks, they indulged in some royal crafting activities — paper fan and sword decorating just like one of my daughter’s favorite episodes. “Ballroom” dancing and “Happy Birthday” singing completed the activities.

Foods & Drinks

The dessert table was filled with the birthday princess’ favorite treats: cake, cupcakes, cookies, rice krispies, macarons, blueberry cheesecake, and lots of chocolate — all decorated with lavender details. For the food table and menu, I decided to incorporate Sofia’s animal friends since they looooove food, especially Clover the bunny. I made table food signs using Clover’s quotes from one of the songs about their love for eating.
