Soft & Sweet Silhouette Birthday Party
I’m giddy with excitement to tell you about this super sweet and absolutely AMAZING Girly Silhouette Birthday Party for Mia thrown by Paige, of Paiges of Style and Betsy of Betsy Blue Photography (Mia’s Mommy). Paige has become one of my dear friends, and we have HWTM to thank for “introducing us”! We first met when I was working on one of my very first posts for HWTM – which just so happened to be the incredible Curious Charlie Monkey Party that she threw for her daughter Charlie.
As always, everything about this latest party from Paige is simply adorable, from the breathtaking layer cake and donut tower adorned with fabric flowers to the all-decked-out paper party hats. I’m in complete awe over the silhouette cake pops created by Kris kCreative Cake Pops too! Can you believe she was able to take Mia’s darling silhouette and turn it into an edible work of art? These have to be one of my all time favorite cake pops ever. I know who I will be calling for my next party. ;)
I’m also loving the large silhouette-themed fondant cake topper created by my other favorite sweets gal, Charynn of Two Sugar Babies.
Last but not least, a party wouldn’t be complete without custom coordinating party printables, and Paige designed several perfectly pastel silhouette party staples, including water bottle labels, cupcake wrappers, juice box wraps, party hats, and more (all of which are available for purchase from Paiges of Style).

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Paige…
“I love working with other creative types, so when Betsy of Betsy Blue Photography asked me to help with her daughter Mia’s 1st birthday party, I jumped at the opportunity. Betsy described Mia as the sweetest of babies so I knew that my new custom silhouette collection would be the perfect theme for her 1st birthday.
We planned this party from start to finish in one week so I wanted to focus on the dessert table and drinks and let Betsy handle all of the food.
The color palette of soft pinks and green were carried throughout the whole party. The dessert table was set up using an old door I found in my neighborhood ready to go to the dump, it’s almost 100 years old and gives the perfect vintage vibe we were looking for. The centerpiece of the dessert table was a layered cake in shades of pink that I made for sweet Mia topped with a gorgeous fondant silhouette by Two Sugar Babies I dressed it up with extra trim and striped paper straws. I wrapped the cupcakes with paper liners from the silhouette collection in my etsy shoppe and topped them with burlap flower poms (see tutorial here http://www.paigesofstyle.com/2011/02/diy-fabric-flower-cupcake-topper.html) I love how gluing some trim on the cake stands (that I made using thrifted plates and candle sticks) really helped coordinate them for this party. For an easy low effort/cost dessert, I stacked Hostess donuts and then adorned the “cake” with fabric flowers that served as party favors for the moms at the party. I just love how they turned out.
My favorite element of the dessert table were the gorgeous silhouette cake pops. Kris of kCreative Cake Pops made these little beauties. They looked exactly like the silhouette I had sent to her and were so detailed and perfect! I just loved how even the desserts were a reflection of Mia.
What’s a party without a party hat? The kids looked so darling in their party hats I created for them, each was decked out with gorgeous trim. I really believe that a gorgeous party is all about the details. Speaking of details, I couldn’t resist making water and juice labels, it’s just more fun to have a drink with a custom label!
Betsy brought in a family heirloom quilt and we used pictures of Mia and beautiful pink roses and babies breath to complete the scene. When you have a party in a beautiful park setting, like I used for Charley’s monkey party, it takes less decoration and doesn’t have to compete with any other decor inside your home. For this party, we went with sweet and simple, and it really was a beautiful day celebrating Mia’s 1st year of life.”
