Black Cat Ball themed Halloween party

The traditional black and orange palette with bright pops of vibrant purple and just the right amount of “spooky glam” takes this kids Halloween party to the next level! Paula of Frog Prince Paperie wanted to do something a little different for Halloween this year and dreamed up this “kid fancy”, glitzy Black Cat Ball! I am totally in love with those printed paper “pedestals” used for the big feather arrangements… and the stunning printed drapes and frames are the perfect “costume” for those ominous black walls, don’t you think? ;)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS, to look out for:

  • SPOOKtacular treats like ghost meringues & fish skeleton cookies
  • “Beta Carotene Brooms” – (aka carrot sticks served in mini cauldrons of ranch dressing!)
  • Purple feathers in white vases on “bone” pedestals
  • Mini push cakes topped with edible black cats
  • Butterscotch pumpkin mousse served in tiny martini glasses

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Paula

This year, I thought it would be fun to throw a kid-fancy party for our Halloween bash. It was all about luxury on paper—draping curtains, candlesticks and cake stands all were printed and used to make a striking backdrop for a spooky “Black Cat Ball.”

FOOD

Kids always love individual servings, so there were many small bites in little serve-ware for them to pick up and run with. Cupcakes in champagne glasses and butterscotch pumpkin mousse in tiny martini glasses were exciting little fancy desserts for the kids. We tempered the sweets this year with a few healthy options. Homemade Parmesan crackers with poppy seed cat heads were offered in individual cups of hummus. “Beta Carotene Brooms” aka carrot sticks in mini cauldrons of ranch dressing were another offering that delighted the kids and offered a nutritious creepy snack among the sugar.

Other spooky sweets included meringue ghosts, spun spider petit fors, and ominous ombre polka dot cakes. Bees Knees Creative provided a set of stunning themed sugar cookies to match the graphics.

My favorite item on the table were the mini-push pops. Each tube holds less than an ounce, so it was perfect for creating a shot of flavor! The pop was stuffed with oreo truffle filling and the top dipped in white chocolate to seal it closed. A catty edible decoration (made from royal icing) perched on top.

DANCING & FAVORS

Our little guests in all their ball finery had fun with “fancy” dancing and feeling a bit special in their tuxedos and party dresses.  They took home festive tubes of  bubblegum from Laugh Loud Smile Big and a special creepy gift from the cat, fish skeleton sugar cookies.

All the printables seen here, including the large format prints for signs, curtains and cake stands are available here!

This is so adorable and chic. I love Halloween and anything Halloween related. I love the use of the purple, black, and orange. Also the use of different textures and patterns was executed flawlessly. I’m so tempted to take this Halloween off to throw a party! Love this!

Absolutely gorgeous, and so much FUN! I just love the little (easy!) details, like the black candies on the serving trays. It added fabulous texture and adapted an everyday plain white tray to be perfect for Halloween. Brilliant!
