Spurs & Bling Texas Cowgirl First Birthday
Howdy ya’ll! Roberta Limongi Ruiz of Three Sisters Parties and her family moved to Texas right before their youngest, Stella, was born, making a Spurs & Bling Texas Cowgirl First Birthday a perfect first celebration! I love all the glammed up details, with green bows, gold glitter and plenty of pink. Like any good Texas Cowgirl knows, it’s all about the animals, so what better way to celebrate than with a petting zoo and pony rides! How cute is that little horse?! Ride em’ Cowgirl!
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Paisley treat boxes, gold flower gumballs & wooden popcorn baskets decorated with ponies, bows & glitter
- Cowboy/girl hats, mustaches, bandanas & Sheriff’s badges for each pint sized cowboy & girl
- ‘Fenced in’ smash cake with sparkly pink topper + a ‘Yee Haw’ mini bunting cake topper
- Picture mat personalized with letter stickers to create a “Wanted” sign photo prop
- Lollipops & chocolate bars with glittery western decor + Rice Krispie “Hay Bales” & real haystack seating
PARTY DETAILS as told by Roberta…
I designed this glittery cowgirl first birthday party for our first and only Texas baby: Stella. Our family moved from Boston to Dallas a few months before Stella’s birth, so I thought there was no better way to celebrate than with the theme: Spurs & Bling, It’s a Texas Cowgirl Thing!!! My goal was to have a sweet and girly party, while incorporating some western flavor into the decor.
Stella felt like a true princess in her pink and glittery little ranch! When guests arrived they were greeted by a “saddle up” sign, accompanied by various western props to choose from (hats, bandanas, mustaches, sheriffs’ badges), and a “wanted” sign was available so the guests could dress up and make their own wanted posters.
Before the food was served, everyone enjoyed a farm themed petting zoo and pony rides in our backyard, which was followed by snacks and pizza while sitting on hay stacks at the toddler table. The celebration became even more special when Stella enjoyed her personal mini birthday cake prepared by daddy!

I really do love everything about these parties. Simply amazing details and creativity is flourished throughout the venue. However it would be nice to see a healthier variety of food choices. Are the pics just a focus on the dessert/sweets table?? Seems there is nothing but cupcakes, macaroons, candy, popcorn, bubblegum etc
What a sweet first birthday! Which petting zoo in Dallas did you use? And would you recommend? Also where is the burlap tablecloth from? And.. Where did you purchase the hay from.. Thanks in advance!
Hi Nancy! Thank you for your feedback! You are right – these pictures are just a very small sampling from the party, focused on the sweets and snacks table. The kids had so much fun at the outdoor petting zoo that I ended up serving the food there, with no formal set up, so I didn’t really feel that those pictures would add much to the styling and decor that I wanted to share on the blog.
Thank you for your comment Samantha! For the petting zoo, I used Country Critters – their website is: http://countrycrittersfarm.com/ They are out of Mansfield but travel to bday parties all over and did not charge me any additional fees to come to Frisco. I would highly recommend them and plan on using them again – the animals are so clean and kid friendly, and the staff members are amazing. I found them through a friend who also used them for a bday party and highly recommends them as well. I got the brown burlap with golden sparkles from Jo-Ann fabrics. I actually just brought a piece of fabric and cut it into a runner, without sewing, which made it easier on my end and also gave it a rustic look :) For the hay stacks, I went to Pardner’s Garden & Feed Store. They are located at 8960 Alpha Ave in Frisco. They were also very easy to deal with and will buy the hay stacks back at 40% of what you paid if you are willing to bring them back after the party. I’m happy to answer any other questions. I hope this helps.
