Summer Backyard Barbecue One Month Celebration
In traditional Asian culture, it’s a big deal for babies to reach the one month milestone. In an effort to honor East and West traditions, this adorable Australian family tied their favorite traditions together to create this Summer Backyard Barbecue One Month Celebration! Mel + Andy of Kiss and Tell Photography did an amazing job capturing all of the precious moments, including baby Alex taking a nap (as one month’s do) ;). It’s all making me very excited to have some Summer barbecues of our own soon!
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Blue rainbow cupcakes & pastel cake pops + individual berry cheesecakes & pavlovas
- Outdoor grilling & buffet style food for the guests & a bow tie onesie for the guest of honor
- Blue hydrangea & baby’s breath flower arrangements + drinks station with chalkboard signs
PARTY DETAILS as told by Mel & Andy…
We hope that we’re sharing something a little bit different and fresh with you today! Why wait all the way to one year to celebrate the birth of your first child? The hosts of this One Month celebration saw a beautiful collision between Eastern tradition and Western life, when they jumped the gun 11 months earlier than most. But seriously, Linda and Thien had good reason not to wait til one year to host their simple, Australian themed, backyard Summer barbecue, seeing as though One Months are a real big deal in Asian cultures.
The Soda Stand, put together by the talented “Anna Tu – The Party Concierge,” was a real hit with the hot and flustered guests, sweltering in the dry, Australian Summer heat. The Party Concierge team was also responsible for the incredible Dessert Stand painted with plenty of edible Aussie greens and golds. While the berry topped cheesecakes and Aussie Pavlovas looked delicious, our favourite pick from the Dessert Stand would have to be those cute elephant cookies.
It wouldn’t be a real Australian barbecue without, well, a barbecue, as well as esky coolers full of Coronas. Alongside the barbecued kebab sticks, Linda and Thien’s family served up fresh Vietnamese salads and nibbles, continuing the mix of East and West. To entertain the crowd of children the guests brought along, the hosts also bought a face painting kit from a local budget shop which was enjoyed by kids and grown-ups alike, including Thien. It turned out to be a cheap and easy success! All that’s needed is a couple of wannabe artists. The last DIY touch worth mentioning is the simple burlap and twine wrapped milk bottle vases for the blue hydrangeas, with matching burlap table runners and topped off with string lights under that the marquee. It was a day to spoil little Alex rotten, and he received plenty of presents, as well as those more traditional, little red pockets.
