PARTY DETAILS, as told by Paula

Vampires and werewolves are perfect for Halloween parties, perhaps even more so for the teen crowd that follows sparkly vampires and unnaturally hot werewolves. In this photo shoot we did for Yum! Food and Fun for Kids we took into account that we were serving to a slightly older crowd and came up with a menu even the most sullen of teenager would love.

With more mature palates to feed, we went with some nice savory appetizers that made references to the famous vampire vs. werewolf book Twilight. Bloody good milkshake shots (recipe here) with a creepy vibe were served along side fried mushroom ravioli (recipe here) with rolled lasagna and a few sweet treats. The cake was made using a template (free download here) and a sugar sheet placed on top of a regular iced cake. We also served sugary “werewolf kibble”, red velvet whoopie pies, and candy coated apples for any sweet tooths that needed satisfying.

For decorations, we were working on a shoestring budget! Black craft paper on the walls and glittery letters served as the backdrop and red plastic tablecloths were draped across the ceiling and down to the floor to add further ambiance. There was a whole lotta drama in that room for just a few dollars! The lettering, tented labels, soda bottle wraps and favor tags we used are all available for free download on the Frog Prince Paperie website here.

Amidst intense discussion over the merits of being on team vampire or team werewolf, we kept the teens busy with a few party games and some fun photo booth props. Everyone {still!} loves a great photo booth!
