PARTY DETAILS, as told by Kiira

My 4 year old is obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We didn’t have much time to put together his 4th birthday party, and needed to keep it on a tight budget. We opted for an easy pizza and dessert party with his friends.

I bought plates & napkins in the colors of the turtles (blue, purple, red & orange). I twisted two different shades of green crepe paper streamers to create a backdrop for the table and I tied crepe paper streamers around green helium balloons to look like turtle masks.

The dessert table was the main event. Oreos as “man-hole covers”, ninja candy sushi on rice krispy treats, and candy coordinated to each turtle’s color. I baked sugar cookies and used ninja shaped cookie cutters to make ninja cookies, and frosted them green with masks and elbow/knee pads. I used green food color to make the cupcakes lime green, and frosted them green with colored masks. The lemon-lime “ooze” was made from lemon-lime soda, lime sherbet ice cream and slices of lime for garnish.

I made a DIY pinata with an extra large balloon, newspaper, and paper-mache glue. I painted it green with a red mask reminiscent of Raphael, the red ninja turtle. I used red, orange, blue & purple felt to cut out masks, and sewed fabric to the edges to make masks for each boy to wear for the pinata.

Thanks for sharing. Did you use a template for the felt masks?
