Trend Alert: All White Bridal Showers {+ Winter Theme}
Tonya Coleman here from Soireé Event Design, and I’m back with the “Trend Alert” where I share with you some of the hottest trends in party planning! Today’s guest post is all about the hot new trend of ALL WHITE BRIDAL SHOWERS! All white party decor is making its way into party planning. When I think of all white I think of brides. Check out how I use this trend in designing a white bridal shower with wintery details.
BRIDAL SHOWER INSPIRED BY A WEDDING GOWN
The first thing that came to mind when deciding to use an all-white color palette for a bridal shower was a wedding gown! So I incorporated fabrics and textures commonly found in wedding gowns such as rosette, tulle, flowers, crystals, glitter and bling to create an atmosphere where you feel like you are surrounded by wedding gowns. Since it’s Christmas time, I added in touches of sparkly white holiday decor to create a wintery white theme. These holiday elements can of course be left out so you can use this design year-round.
Not using any color in a party design may sound hard to do. Even I kept fighting the urge to add a “splash of color” but really it’s easy with my simple steps below and the final visual impact is simply gorgeous.
USE A VARIETY OF SAME COLOR TEXTURES AS YOUR DESIGN BASE
The key to creating a monochromatic look that works is to stick with one color and then mix in many textures of that color to make it interesting and to give it some dimension so that your decor doesn’t look flat. Here I used a combination of all white rosette, tulle and ceramic. This white rosette linen from Efavormart was gorgeous on the dining table and also hung as a backdrop behind the sweets table, which I finished off with this fabulous white tulle table linen from Candy Crush Events. I LOVE how the mix of using rosette on the top and tulle at the bottom of the sweets table reminded me of an actual wedding gown! Lastly, I used white ceramic dishes on the table so they blended in with the white linen, but the smooth, shiny ceramic texture popped.
MIX IN CRYSTAL & SILVER WOW FACTORS
Most wedding gowns have crystal or silver shimmery wow factors that make them stand out. I applied this same fashion design principle to our shower decor in keeping with the wedding gown theme. To add that shimmer and crystal wow factor, I knew right away I would go to Koyal Wholesale who specializes in wedding decor and has all kinds of crystal and silver accents to choose from. I decided on this gorgeous crystal table top chandelier, crystal cupcake stand and silver flora glass chargers as the perfect addition to the shower decor.
OFFER ALL WHITE DESSERTS & CANDY ON THE SWEETS TABLE
To pull off a dramatic monochromatic sweets table, all your desserts and candy must be the same color and displayed in clear or white containers. I always use glass apothecary jars from Koyal Wholesale to display my bulk loose sweets so that guests can actually see the desserts and I love using white trays to display designer sweets to show them off. Finding all white candy is easy with the new color tool from Candy Warehouse that shows you all their available candy in your color, and they ship!
To finish off the table I included designer dessert items like these gorgeous gourmet candy apples by Roni’s Sugar Creations, glitter candy apples, cake pops and flower topped chocolate covered oreos by Autumn Lynn’s Chocolate Sins, white swirl cake pops by Sweet Cheeks Tasty Treats and custom iced cookies from Sweet C’s Bakeshop that are as yummy as they are gorgeous!
Fondant toppers like these flat snowflakes from Edible Details, sparkly tulle cupcake toppers by Fizzy Party and bling pinwheels from Peckled instantly transform store bought cupcakes into designer masterpieces. Wrap them in a glittered white cupcake wrapper and display them on a fabulous stand like this Elly Spiral cupcake stand by Dress My Cupcake.
FINISHING TOUCHES
To make any event truly memorable, don’t forget all the finishing touches that will have your guests thinking you are party rock star!
Greet Guests with a Gorgeous Door Wreath
One of my favorite party trends are door wreaths and this white sparkly tulle wreath from Fizzy Party is the perfect way to greet guests as they arrive. It sets the tone for the wintery white decor they will find inside.
Gotta Have Bling!
What’s a bridal shower without a little bling! On the dining table, these bling cutlery sets from Talia’s Creative Printing adds a classy and subtle touch of bling and go perfectly with these white and bling napkin rings from Peckled.
Fondant Topped Favor Boxes
One detail I never forget is to include the bride’s favorite candy on the sweets table. Sometimes that candy may NOT work with your table’s color palette (think Skittles), so I make sure to put that candy inside a packaging that matches like these white favor boxes wrapped with white glitter ribbon and topped with a fondant snowflake stick. NOW the bride’s favorite candy is on the table AND matches my design!
Floral Bouquets as Decor
Mix in white flower balls to add dimension. These paper flower balls from Peckled were perfect! They came already attached to a blinded out ribbon so that they could be hung. I decided to turn them upside down and place them into a clear trumpet vase so that the ribbon hung down inside the vase as an unexpected decorative bling accent.
Custom Laser Cut Snowflakes
In my design, I wanted to add snowflakes on sticks that I would place inside these gorgeous white glittered votive holders. I couldn’t find the snowflake sticks anywhere, so I had Ten23 Designs custom cut them from wood! Gotta love a company who can take your vision and make it a reality! I simply spraypainted them a glittery silver, added a rhinestone to the center and placed them down inside the votive holders filled with crystal gems.
3D Fondant Decor
These gorgeous fondant snowflake lollipops by Edible Details were so gorgeous that I had to use them as decor items on my sweets table. Towering above the cake pop display and cookie stand it is simply stunning!
SPECIAL ATTIRE FOR THE GUESTS & BRIDAL PARTY
Request that the party guests where white and create something special for the flower girl and bridesmaids! One element I love to incorporate in bridal showers is inviting the flower girl and making her feel super special in anticipation of the big day! Here the flower girl is dressed in a custom tutu dress and fabulous rosette bling necklace designed by Atutudes and a whimsical mini top hat headband by Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams.
As an added touch, request that your guests wear all white to the shower. The bride can also take this opportunity to acknowledge her bridesmaids by displaying these whimsical mini top hats at each of the bridesmaid’s place settings for them to wear (and take home) during the shower which adds a touch of whimsical fun and great photo ops! If your budget allows it would be fabulous to have a rosette bling necklace for each of your bridesmaids as well!
