under the sea birthday party with sea shell cookies

The balloon wall backdrop from this Under the Sea Party is so fun! Milenna from Party – Tales did a fabulous job transforming the room into an “ocean” that any little mermaid would love. As you can see here, covering the walls can really jazz up the atmosphere of any party – you can use balloons, fabrics, murals, ribbon… even removable vinyl wall graphics!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • DIY stamped canvas tote bags filled with coral bracelets, lip balm & other “mermaid” goodies
  • An AMAZING balloon wall & hand painted mural!
  • Adorable purple octopus cake pops with tiny flower bows (+ crabs & fishbowls too!)
  • Clever “sea shell” cookies with edible pearls

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Milenna

My daughter loves Ariel so I went with the Under the Sea Theme to celebrate her 3rd birthday. My mom and I did all the decorations balloons, table decor (we made the tulle tableskirts), favors (I stamped some canvas tote bags I got at Michaels with the same motif as the invitations and all the paper decor using iron transfer paper and sew the blue trim). They were filled with headbands, coral bracelets, lip balms lots of other goodies. I also make all the water bottle labels, Thank you tags, food labels, cupcake toppers…

I baked the cake and cupcakes and did all the fondant decorations. I especially loved how the mermaid cake topper turned out, as it was the first time I tried something like that! The cupcake-Cake stand is from Wilton. We had a hand-painted mural we used as background and made a balloon wall. I made the pinata as well, using cardboard and with my scallop punch I cut tissue paper to cover it all.

The gorgeous Cake pops were from Cathy Alfano from The Cake Bomb, who recently won the Canada Sweets and baking competition and one of the judges was Buddy from Cake boss! On the sweets table there were some sea creatures gummy skewers by  and I made some seashell cookies by filling them with buttercream icing and using a white gum ball as the pearls. Ariel came to the party to visit birthday girl.
