What do you do when you’ve got a little girl that is just as cute as a button and sweet as can be? Throw her a Cute as a Button Birthday Party just like Clair Griffiths of Calamity Cakes did! Most button themed parties have sewing elements, so I love how Clair added her own twist by including lots of vintage & girly pink details. Like the old school drinks stand and bow topped mason jar cupcakes — absolutely LOVE! See more parties with this adorable theme here, here and here! ;)

PARTY DETAILS as told by Clair

To celebrate my daughter’s second birthday, we held a Cute as a Button celebration with close friends and family. I reworked a dessert and drinks stand that had previously been used for my other daughters’ birthday, and came up with a completely different feel. Lots of pinks and aqua, white timber and a Cute as a Button rag banner gave the party a vintage feel. I also created an ‘A’ picture from extra buttons that were used to decorate details throughout the party, and an ‘Alice’ sign from wooden letters painted and covered with paper.

Guests enjoyed vanilla cupcakes, mud cake, red velvet cupcakes, melting moments, macarons, raspberry cheesecake, lollypops, jello and a selection of candy. Sweet drinks were served from vintage styled glass dispensers in mason jars and milk bottles with stride paper straws.

The children played with old fashioned wooden toys and used water colour paints to create lovely paintings. They each took home a skipping rope, handmade button bows and clips, and a candy bag, all displayed on a vintage ladder.
