Love Potion Bottles for a Victorian Gothic Bridal Shower or Wedding

We’re absolutely smitten with this chic VINTAGE-GOTHIC Inspired Sweets Table by Natty of Half Dozen Design! And although it was originally styled for a wedding, this look would also translate beautifully to a chic, outside-the-box Bridal Shower or Valentine’s Day celebration, don’t you think? ;)

From gorgeous dessert trays lined with lace & book pages to cookies tied up like tiny packages, the styling on this table is truly fantastic! And what could be a more fitting signature drink for this fun theme than Love Potion, right? Especially when it’s served up in lovely custom bottles with stripey straws declaring “Til Death Do Us Part“!

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Natty

“I created this Dessert Table for a Gothic inspired Wedding Event that took place in The Wedding House in Liverpool City, England. The Creative Brief was “an alternative Gothic Dessert Table”.

I chose a dark color palette, but I did not want it to be over whelmed with black as I though that would be too gloomy. I used, grey, cream and off-white to perk things up a bit and silver was used to add light to the table.

I used pages from old books as tray liners and used lace and ribbon to dress up the liners and also tied them around the jars that were filled with sweets. I thought this added a really nice Vintage Gothic twist to the décor.

I used craft paper and the old book pages to make handmade rosettes which I then glued custom printables on to.

The treats included:

  • Black Velvet Cupcakes & Layer cake.
  • Coconut Truffles
  • Mini Meringues
  • Cupcakes in Jars
  • White Chocolate Covered Mini Oreos
  • Cake Pops
  • Candy Coated Ginger Snaps
  • Plus a variety of Candy and Sweets

I think the table would work really well for Valentine’s Day especially as an alternative to the usual red and pink. How refreshing to see something other than the run of the mill traditional color pallet.”

Love the goth-girly theme! It’s a bit busy for me (the ribbons, lace and newspaper/book print together), but I think using pages of books to line dessert/apps trays and make little festive doodads is a great idea! I’m going to steal that idea for my next party!
