Prepare to be mystified and amazed! Gretchen of Three Little Monkeys Studio celebrated her daughter’s 7th birthday with a Sparkly, Pink & Vintage Magic Party. Inspired by bunnies, shimmering stars and a pink and purple color palette, this party has the perfect mix of birthday magic!

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Gretchen…

Ever since my daughter met a magician at a local pizza place, she has been obsessed with magic and spending all of her tooth fairy money on magic tricks. She can make a mean balloon animal! So it was no surprise that she chose magic for her 7th birthday theme.

Working closely with her, we designed the printables by selecting her favorite colors and fonts so it was everything she dreamed of—a pink and purple magic party with lots of glitter!

I chose to serve an afternoon buffet of sweets, and with the help of some amazing vendors it was truly magical.

Brittany of Edible details made an adorable magic bunny and top hat cake topper using my daughter’s favorite colors and lots of glitter per the birthday girl’s request. I used it to top off a grocery store cake. Brittany also made fondant bunny ears, feet and tails that I used to decorate little boxes of popcorn so it looked like the bunnies were burrowing into the tasty popcorn (this was by far the favorite treat of the kids!).

Audrey of Sweet Cheeks Tasty Treats made shimmery purple cake pops and gold glittered chocolate star pops that were so good! Krista of Cookies With Character made adorable bunny, top hat, magic wand and star cookies that complimented the printables. I also served cupcakes adorned with cupcake toppers and Cherry Sours that were set up to look like a famous magic trick called Cups and Balls.

For beverages, guests drank homemade Shirley Temples and iced tea.

For decor, Bethany of Sweet Georgia Sweet crafted a beautiful wreath to match the printables exactly, and she also added a glittery “R” for the birthday girl. It was the perfect way to welcome guests!

I also created signs which I framed in pretty frames from Hobby Lobby (I also used larger frames as serving dishes for the cupcakes and cookies), cupcake toppers and floral arrangements in top hats. To personalize the party even more, my daughter requested that one sign say, “Hocu Pocus Chicken Choke Us” with a chicken on it. I guess her and her friends love to say that.

The backdrop was made out of inexpensive satin tablecloths from Amazon.com that were much cheaper than fabric. I used clamps from the hardware store to attach them to an old photography backdrop stand and draped them to resemble a stage curtain.

DIY projects added lots of fun personal touches. I made marquee lights out of paper mache letters, globe string lights and loads of gold and glitter spray paint. They spelled out “MAGIC” and added some wow factor to the party and really helped compliment the vintage magic show vibe I was going for. I also made several star garlands using a star-shaped punch, gold glitter scrap book paper and glitter twine. My mother made the birthday girl’s ruffled tuxedo shirt, which perfectly matched the custom magician’s cape made by KidKapers. I also decorated birch wood forks with glitter tape to add some sparkle.

Using old trunks to hold party goods and top hats to elevate food items, as well as vintage vintage magic tricks and props picked up from flea markets, really helped give the feeling that we were backstage during a magic show among a magician’s trunk full of magic tricks.

For party favors, our little guests took home adorable favor boxes from Piggy Bank Parties stuffed with a sweet treat.

Activities consisted of a private magic lesson for my daughter and her best friend before the show, smashing a custom piñata crafted by the Piñata Queen, and an amazing magic show with Magic Scott. He was so much fun, and the kids were constantly screaming and giggling. Every child was asked to participate in the show, and the birthday girl even levitated and performed a few of her own magic tricks. After the show, we had a photo booth set up in front of the backdrop with top hats and magic props.

It was definitely a memorable party!
