PARTY DETAILS, as told by Rachel…
My two year old is obsessed with trains–completely. I knew nothing would make him happier than trains for his birthday party! Things didn’t go quite as planned–we’re in the middle of relocating and ended up moving out of our house two days before the party. I managed to save the decorations and hold back all the goodies for the party… but our house was completely empty! I outsourced all of the food and sweets, so all I had to worry about on the day of was setting up. And lucky for us, the weather was perfect and we were able to party outside.
For the decor, I focused on using burlap and red bandanas with some pops of navy. I fell in love with the little paper suitcases and couldn’t imagine not using them as part of the dessert table. My first attempt at sewing crepe paper went pretty well and framed the backdrop nicely. It’s always fun to personalize the dessert table for the birthday boy–and covering a “B” with a red bandana helped make it special for the birthday boy.
The dessert table had an assortment of sweets in coordinating colors. Cake pops, dipped oreos and pretzels in party colors–as well as adorable sugar cookies to match the theme! The train lollipops were so sweet and a great favor for guests to take home. The kids’ table had one of my favorite elements–the kids all took home red bandanas filled with train treats as well as a conductor hat. They made a cute runner down the center of the table and a darling bunting behind the table.
All in all it was a great party that was easy to bring together–even without a house to use!

Do you know where the bandanas came from? They are cuter than most that I’ve seen online! Thank you!!
