Pretty + Playful: A Vintage-Style 1940s Inspired Wedding Theme
This 1940’s INSPIRED WEDDING from Lina at A Stunning Affair is all kinds of gorgeous… not to mention playful and FUN!
I’m loving everything about this inspirational shoot – from the oh-so-pretty and feminine floral designs that perfectly capture the vintage vibe – to clever details like adorable “Yum!” food flags and the old fashioned Coke bottles, bowling pins, canisters, & more that are woven throughout the decor. How do you entertain guests when they’re not busy eating & drinking? Crochet & darts, of course! And the fantastic calligraphy adorning everything from the place cards to the games and signage really helps tie all of the different elements together beautifully.
I’m also going to file this one under Bridal Showers, because there’s lots of fun inspiration here that would be lovely for a bridal shower too and could be recreated on a smaller scale. All these pretty, feminine details actually make me think of a lingerie theme!

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Lina…
“For bride’s and groom’s out there that love Coca Cola, we decided to create a beverage station table featuring Coke, Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, then pairing it with cherries, lemons and limes. To go with the picnic menu of salads and sandwiches, we thought it would be fun to pair them with Kettle Chips and Popcorn in a variety of flavors.
All the vintage rentals provided by Found Vintage Rentals. Jeni at Found Rentals has the most amazing selection of vintage items to bring the perfect look for your wedding. =) And the pretty photos? They are by the lovely Krista Mason!
For the main tablescape, Found Rentals provided the picnic style table and chairs with a green and white gingham runner. The beautiful floral arrangements filled with billy balls, ranunculas, hydrangeas, roses were placed in vintage tins by Peony & Plum. The table number tag, created by Shannon Vetere and Calligraphy Katrina was attached to a bowling pin to tie our look together.
A game of croquet makes for the perfect afternoon reception idea.
The type writer was a fun way for the guests to leave love notes for the bride + groom. The guests place them into our vintage mailbox and the notes were mailed to the couple after the wedding.
From the vintage style basket weave to the vintage cake topper, our cake, Fantasy Frostings was the perfect treat.”
