PARTY DETAILS, as told by Daisy…
I had my heart set on having a summer garden party for Isabella filled with everything pastel and beautiful, incorporating all vintage pieces that I have collected along the years.
Invitation
The first time I met Li-Ann from Ham & Pea Design and Paperie, I knew she was the one who will be designing the invitations for Isabella’s 1st Birthday. My exact instructions were pastel colours and flowers and an element of rabbit as my daughter was born in the year of Rabbit. I never knew what I wanted the invitations to look like but when Li-Ann sent me the proofs, this was the exactly the invites I had in mind and she blew me away with her talent. She also created all the printables for the whole event including buffet labels, lolly tags, lolly bag iron – on, drink bottle wrappers & chocolate wrappers.
Dessert Table
I then contacted my trusty cake maker Helen from Kiss My Cakes. Over a cup of tea, we have decided to have 3 cakes on gorgeous cake stands displayed on a vintage dresser. The main cake to be designed around the invites and a blue ruffle cake and a yellow buttercream smash cake. Helen also made beautiful rose cupcakes, bunny cookies. I placed the bunny cookies on a cake stand inside a vintage wooden suitcase that I painted in mint green along with some personalised chocolate bar.
Candy Buffet
Two days before the party I found an old side table, gave it a coat of paint and a new lease in life. It was a perfect candy table to accompany the dessert table. It was a huge hit and the children were helping themselves to the candy without any assistance. I handmade the fabric yoyo decoration for the candy jars to give it a vintage feel. I also made some paper fan doilies in pastel colours for decoration. Kids fill their personalised muslin favour bags with mint choc beans, orange jelly beans, hershey kisses, banana candy, strawberry cloud and little piggies. Adults took home personalised dark chocolate candy bar.
Drink Station
We served iced cranberry fizz in an apothecary drink dispenser on a vintage drink trolley. I dressed up mini glass drink bottles with a personalised wrapper and a lovely ribbon bow topped with a pink paper straws.
The Party
We asked all guest bring their own picnic blanket so everyone could lounge, relax and enjoy the afternoon in the garden on a beautiful summers day. The highlight of the party Isabella the time of her life smashing through the delicious sponge cake on her vintage high chair.
