PARTY DETAILS, as told by Valerie

What is a better way to celebrate the re-release of “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh,” than a 100 Aker Wood Party? The story is built on magic, friendship, laughter, silliness and love and I wanted to capture these characteristics in the party itself.

The party took place on my photographers magical property. It was the perfect setting with tall pine and oak trees to play on the different scenes I had in mind. DanyC Photography captured the pure innocence and beauty I was hoping for. The main setup for the party took place under one of the big oaks on the property. Paper fans and honeycomb balls were hung from the billowing branches above the table.

Gold candelabras lined the table with tea lights to create a lovely light. There were place settings for all the main characters from the movie — Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Rabbit, Tigger, Kanga, Roo, Owl and Piglet. Lauren from Ten23Designs cut out wood character names that I spray painted gold and hung on the vintage chairs from Refunction Junction with gingham ribbon from Ribbon Revelery. They truly made each place setting just that much more personalized.

Each setting was lined with table wear with fun golds flags on sticks that I made to wave around just like the Hero Party in the movie. Each place setting from Bloom Designs Online was lined with yellow bubble gum favors and custom wooden cutlery designed by Sucre Shop. Linda from Frog Prince Cake and Cookie Design made the most delectable honeycomb and hunny pot cookies and also mini fondant bees. The Cookie Jar made bee cookies on sticks and little picnic basket cookies that tied into the theme so perfectly.

For the sweets table, I hung a mini white vintage chandelier from Events by I Candy over the dessert table where so many fun items were displayed. I created a paper banner with the words “Beelicious” that seemed fitting for the bee and honey connection. Fun mini picnic baskets from Faniciful Events served as a sweet element for striped paper straws to be displayed in. One of my favorite personalized details was the custom-engraved honeycomb wands I found via Etsy that read “Life is Sweet.” I attached these to mini bottles of fresh Michigan Honey from my grandpa’s property. The table was complete with a custom platter with Pooh’s famous honey quote made by Magnolia Creative.

It always seems that adorable outfits make photo shoots come together. Lacey from Atutudes made custom coordinating tulle skirts for the girls. They were so adorable and perfectly complimented the handcrafted headpieces by Keisha from Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams.

The models were adorable and they had a fun and memorable time! They enjoyed their Hero Party in the woods — playing games and eating all the sweets. We ended the party with some huge balloons and let paper lanterns go into the magical evening sky. It was such a fun moment for the children; to see the magic in their eyes was priceless. This party truly was so fun to create. I hope that you enjoy it too.
