This “Witch’s Potion Cupboard” Halloween theme by Bird of Bird’s Party is full of such CUTE inspiration for the younger kids! I’m really loving the bold patterns and adorable skeleton graphic on the party printables she designed. Who ever thought a skeleton could be described as “adorable”?!

This is also one “Witch’s Cupboard” stocked with ingredients that are anything but scary… in fact, I’m sure that trick-or-treaters of all ages will find the vibrant orange candies and darling fondant toppers, cake, and cookies to be downright inviting! (Especially when they’re displayed and packaged up so prettily!) This theme would also work charmingly with some sugar-rimmed mason jar Witch’s Brew and Donut Broomsticks, don’t you think?! PARTY DETAILS, as told by Bird…

Inspiration & Design:

“A Witch’s Potion Cupboard filled with yummy treats to please even the trickiest of little witches! All of the printable party items are from our Halloween Printable Party Collection.

The buffet cabinet naturally provides different display levels, so all treats are in full
view of the guests. It adds interest to the eye, and you don’t need to worry about backdrops
or tablecloths. It’s a great alternative to a conventional dessert table display!

Décor:

Most of the props were vintage finds or from my local dollar store. I used them to create a spooky and haunted atmosphere with lots of spider webs and printables from our Halloween Collection.

The black cages were a thrifty find and I used candy corn in vintage jars (from flea markets) to hold the candy inside the cages. An ‘Eat if You dare’ printable party label adds touch the fun look.

A fun ‘The Witch is In’ sign is displayed on the bottom part of the cupboard, along with dripping candles from my local dollar store.

A vertical garland with the icons from the collection in hung on the cabinet door and long with a Jack O’ Lantern cut out, also from the collection.

Treats & Favors:

We had candy corn in vintage jars, and vanilla cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and sugar paste frostings that were decorated with orange, black and white sugar sprinkles from Sweet Estelle.

The cake was a simple sponge cake covered in sugar paste, and decorated wth edible toppers from Lynlee’s Petite Cakes and printables from the collection! Easy and effective! Some of the cupcakes were also topped with ghosts and spooky edible toppers from Lynlee’s Petite Cakes and cut-out designs from the printable collection.

Assorted candies (gumballs, flying saucers, M & M’s, jelly beans, etc.) are displayed in vintage little ‘poison’ bottles and labelled with party tags from the collection.
I found all jars from my local charity shop!

Chocolate skulls were homemade using Wilton’s candy molds and orange Candy Melts.

Handmade swirl lollipops (you can get them from candywarehouse.com) are embellished with cupcake toppers from the collection, and displayed in a black metal ‘cauldron’ tied with ribbon.

Beautiful sugar cookies (pumpkin and black cats) from Sweet Dough are fun displayed under a glass cloche or bagged with cute labels from the printable collection, and given out to trick or treaters! They also make great party favors!

Tricks (Party Activities) & Costume Ideas:

Coloring paper from the printable collection would keep little goblins entertained during a party. A DIY Jack O’ Lantern mask is also included with the kit and fun to make for a quick and easy costume idea or party decorations!

Girls: The little costume is a simple black and white stripped T-Shirt, witch’s hat and a fabulous tutu from Bella Ariana.

The witch’s broom is simply a bamboo stick covered with dry twigs from the garden.
Then tied with a piece of brown raffia to the bamboo. Easy! I also made little brooms to decorate the desserts cabinet. Instead of twigs, I just used raffia pieces.

Boys: Face painting can also be a fun activity for a Halloween party! Here we
have a skeleton design, which just needs a black t-shirt to complete the look.
Start by sponging white face paint all over the face, leaving the eyes and
nose area without paint. Then fill those area in using a fine paintbrush with
black face paint, with vertical lines for mouth. I got my paints from Toy’s R Us.

A black lantern (from my local dollar store) with a mock-candle inside is the perfect accessory for little boys when trick or treating!

Potions & Spells (Drinks Station):

To add to the whole witch’s potion-making concept, we created a fun DIY
Potion Station, where guests choose and mix their own! Providing cordial in ‘poison’ bottles, empty glass bottles with lids (from local homeware store) and water bottles, decorated straws and spells (recipes) will sure to be a hit with guests of any age!

A note to help guests on their way ‘Choose your poison, add water and shake’, a
fun little spell sheet, as well as blank spell cards are also provided in the collection to help you decorate the drinks station in style!”
