Wonderlandia Table #4: “Confetti & Rabbits” Inspired Bridal Shower

Wonderlandia Bridal Shower - Confetti and Rabbits

Vicky from A Subtle Revelry put such a playful and super creative spin on “Wonderlandia” for her interpretation of the theme with this fabulous “Confetti and Rabbits” Bridal Shower tablescape {for our Glue Dots Tablescape Exhibit}! She had me from the get-go with those little ultra-modern rabbit silhouettes, but the way she displayed them between wooden blocks and “looking glass” plates was simply INSPIRED!

And how fabulous do the homemade cakes look adorned with wired confetti “cake toppers”? Those are actually Christmas tree garland pick decorations repurposed as cake decorations – GENIUS! The polka dot “Bingo” linen from La Tavola really played up the “confetti” element in this design, which was also brought to life through colorful paper circles, mini DIY honeycombs, and stacks of cookies sprinkled with bright pink sugar. Another fun touch: a giant orange balloon attached to a beaded crystal “string” adorned the guest of honor’s chair!

CREATIVE DETAILS, as told by Vicky

Confetti and Rabbits. To take the Wonderlandia theme and really make it true to my style and party scene I decided using one main element (the white rabbit) along with other subtle nods to the movie would make for an interesting interpretation!

The place settings were laid with butcher block as the base to bring in the woodsy feel of the movie. On top of the butcher blocks were rectangular glass plates that held the napkins and white paper rabbits in place. I had hoped to communicate a bit of whimsy with these settings, and the rabbits ended up looking almost like they had been “frozen in the looking glass”… such a fun touch!

The table was covered with a black and white polka dot “Bingo” linen from La Tavola, along with bright paper confetti sporadically strewn about. Each tea flute had a miniature honeycomb attached, which was a signature handcrafted item for my table. I left small papers with simple instructions for the guests to take home, you can now find a photographed tutorial to make your own honeycombs right here.

The table was centered with another large honeycomb and pink cakes topped with more bright, shiny confetti. I loved how this look came out… the colors really play into the theme, yet the center is a very non-literal interpretation of the movie. The table center look could have easily fit right in the middle of the Mad Hatter’s tea! I placed the cakes on homemade cake stands made from candle sticks and thrifted serving trays. I painted them gray before traveling to San Diego for the party and simply glued them together the day of the party. This was an easy way to utilize easy-to-pack party elements for the making of a pretty and festive table!”

How Glue Dots were used:

  • To hold down & secure the colorful paper confetti in place on the tablecloth
