4th of July Inspiration: Patriotic Shortcake

Amanda from Joy Ever After sent over this festive 4th of July table setting – aptly titled “Patriotic Shortcake“.
I love the simplicity of this pretty table design – not to mention the adorable pinwheel drink accents (!) – and thought it might help to get you in the mood for July 4th celebrations this weekend…

Find full DIY info for these fun Patriotic Pinwheels right here.
P.S. Looking for a good shortcake recipe? Here’s a Strawberry Lemon Shortcake recipe that Amanda recommends – and – for those of you working on getting into that summer bikini – a “lightened up” Strawberry Shortcake recipe alternative.

Thanks again for the inspiration, Amanda!

Last year I made a quick strawberry and blueberry topping for shortcake and angel food cake that I took up to my grandparents cookout. It reminded me of your recipe slightly. I macerated some strawberries and blueberries in a little orange liqueur and a bit of honey to make sure the orange liqueur did not overpower the berries. Put whipped cream on top and it was a very beautiful dish. Perfectly matched my patriotic themed party supplies that I brought along.
Love the Royal Copenhagen-style blue & white plates, nice touch!
