Little Sasquatch Party Ideas

I’m so excited to share the details of this darling “Little Sasquatch” birthday party! 🤎 One of my closest friends was celebrating the 1st birthday of her adorable baby boy (Cole) – so, of course, we had to do it up RIGHT. 😉🌲

Bigfoot + Little Sasquatch

The party’s theme was inspired by one of Cole’s toys – a darling Bigfoot plushie by Jellycat. Alieh also loves woodsy elements and plaid flannel, which go perfectly with a Bigfoot/Little Sasquatch vibe! I designed a new printable collection for the party as well – complete with a little sasquatch character, buffalo plaid, and forest elements throughout.

Wanna recreate this theme for your own celebration? Read on for cute ideas and helpful tips!

Woodsy Balloon Backdrop

Let’s start with the amazing balloon installation created by Sky Balloon Bar. 😍 I love how they took the party colors from light to dark & narrow to wide, creating an artsy mountain-esque look to the backdrop.

The decorative pine trees that Alieh ordered on Amazon were also strategically worked into the balloon display. It was an amazing focal point for the party and definitely the most popular photo-taking spot! 🗻🤩

Lil’ Sasquatch Dessert Table

The dessert table was another focal point of the party – indoors this time!

We folded flannel fabric to work as a “table runner” and flanked their dining table with artificial pine trees. The table was filled with custom sweets & accent decor, including mini trees, a marquee C, a photo of Cole, and the adorable Bigfoot plush that inspired the theme.

More details on the dessert table are coming below… 😋

A Warm Welcome

Big welcome signs are such a great way to greet your guests! I designed this one at 24×36 and printed it at Staples. It was less expensive to buy a poster frame than to have the sign mounted on foam core – and the frame is something she can use again. 🎉

Bigfoot Candy/Treat Buffet

Styled candy buffets add such a sweet touch to any party! For this Bigfoot-themed buffet, we stuck with treats that matched the party’s colors and gave them playful forest/woodsy names (using printable labels, of course! 😉). We ended up with the following:

  • Glazed donut holes = BOULDERS
  • Green apple gummy bears = FOREST BEARS
  • Caramel Corn = SASQUATCH MUNCH
  • Apple gummy rings = TREE RINGS
  • Chocolate-covered pretzels = MUDDY TRACKS

The plastic treat containers are from Party City, and Alieh found the candy tongs and scoops on Amazon. I always opt for plastic containers at kids’ parties because they’re safer, and you don’t have to stress about accidental broken glass. They’re also easy to dress up with some trim (in this case, rustic twine) and a customized label!

Bigfoot Birthday Cake

The custom birthday cake and smash cake were ridiculously awesome. 🤩😍  The bakery used my Little Sasquatch Invitation design as inspiration and even brought the cute sasquatch to life with fondant!

How cute are the tiny fondant “bigfoot tracks” circling the cake! 🤩

The custom cake pops and sugar cookies also matched the party theme. Finishing touches included personalized tent cards for the treats, an 8×10 “Sasquatch Sweets” sign, wood slice serving platters, and buffalo plaid partyware.

The Drink Station

Next up is the iced tea + hot drinks table!

Canned beverages were available in a giant galvanized tub, but Alieh also wanted to offer warm drinks to go with the wintery forest vibe. She ordered hot chocolate and flavored coffee pods, and I set everything up on a little self-serve drink station. The straw flags and Ice Tea labels are part of the printable collection as well.

Most of the elements from the drink station were ordered on Amazon –including the cute buffalo check tablecloth and ceramic containers embellished with twine.

And I always love designing signs for drink stations that play on the party theme. 😊

Lunch Tables & Centerpieces

We set up four 8-ft banquet tables in the backyard and covered them with black linens and flannel plaid table runners (also made from fabric Alieh purchased).

The centerpieces were cute, easy, and – most importantly – they put the guest of honor front and center!

We used double-sided acrylic 8×10 frames to feature two photos of Cole, then arranged a few mini trees and 4×6 printable signs around them to tie in the party theme. The 4×6 sign frames were double-sided as well, so guests on both sides of the table got a great view of the centerpieces.

The hardest part of putting the centerpieces together was picking which photos of the birthday boy to display! There were all so cute… we could’ve created centerpieces for 10 times as many tables. 😍

Smash Cake Time

Singing happy birthday with a smash cake out is one of the highlights of any first birthday! Cole took an instant liking to the frosting, which made for the cutest pics. 🥰

The high chair was embellished with a cute boho yarn tassel garland. We used command hooks to attach it.

Happy first birthday, Cole! It was so much fun celebrating you. 🤎 Thanks for giving the grown-ups that live far away from each other an excuse to get together, too! 😉
