Football parties can be such a fun way to get into the game — with yummy snacks, team decor and a house full of excited friends! But for Britni Vigil of Play. Party. Pin., football season means that much of her free time is devoted to watching the games at home, which doesn’t leave a lot of room for girl time. So as a last indulgent hurrah, she threw this Chocolate is Better than Football Girls’ Party filled with everything chocolate, including lots of her favorite — Snickers!

As an added bonus, Britni is generously sharing the recipe for her “Better than Football” Chocolate Cake (a bold statement, but I can’t really imagine anything better than the perfect chocolate cake). Check out some drool-worthy photos of all of the chocolate desserts below, and then get the recipe details for the cake right here.

PARTY DETAILS as told by Britni

My husband loves football but as soon as football season starts all we do is watch football. I thought it would be fun to have one last girls night hurrah dedicated to something super girly — chocolate. And the idea for this girls need chocolate like guys need football party was born.

The first thing I think of when it comes to glam is glitter so I incorporated glitter on everything — on the cookies, on the silverware, on the vases, and even on the football table. The glitter along with the chocolate made this the perfect girls night in.

To start out the night, the girls snacked on all sorts of chocolate treats including to die for truffles from The Sugar Cube, homemade better than anything cake, Snickers cupcakes, and more. Even the drinks were chocolate, chocolate milk sipped through chocolate rimmed milk bottles. Everything was tied together perfectly on the dessert table with incredible tissue paper letters from Sheer Bliss Designs and a gorgeous faux chocolate cake from Kima’s Konfections. While we ate chocolate, like at any good girls night, we told stories of our mom adventures and talked about our final summer plans.

After our chocolate appetizers, we sat down to DIY chocolate fondue inspired by a Snickers bar. The beautiful tablescape was complete with glitter fondue sticks, glitter silverware made by Stephanie from SK Designs, handmade placemats to match the color scheme, and gorgeously designed menus from Jess Kasteler Design Studio. And last but not least, sweet place cards made by adding name cards to a fun size Snickers bar.

Once we were all tired of chocolate (or at least pretending to be), we finished out the night with a girly gab session then picked out a gorgeous glam bag made by Confetti Couture Events to take home our chocolate in. And on the way out, the girls were encouraged to take a box of treats home to their football loving husbands as a thank you for letting them come out to girls night. The football table was highlighted with a gorgeous blue glittery football from Fizzy Party and stocked full of non-chocolate treats like the delicious sour lollis from Sweets Indeed and football cookies from Cara Bella Creations.

This was the perfect way to send off the summer and get the football season started, especially since we all now have a nice stock of chocolate to get us through all of those football games.
