A Modern Farmhouse Graduation Party
I’m so excited to share this Modern Farmhouse Graduation Party with you! 🎓
The guest of honor has a lot of unique interests & passions, and I really wanted them to shine through in the decor. 🤩 This meant using hand-crafted details to bring personalized elements (like softball & violin) to life in a way that matched the farmhouse vibes.
I also designed a set of Modern Farmhouse Graduation printables for this party, featuring the traditional black and white farmhouse palette and a Rae-Dunn-inspired font. Rustic elements like wood and galvanized metal accents rounded out the look.
Graduation Balloon Garland
This black, white, & gold balloon garland by Prism Party Co turned out SOOOO great!
I had requested accents of marbled balloons in the garland to give it some “texture”, and she seriously found the prettiest marbled balloons I’ve ever seen. 🙌 (The rich black and bold contrast were absolutely gorgeous.) Also – it was forecasted to be 104 degrees for this party, and dark balloons don’t do well in high heat 😬, so marbling was a good way to get a little black into the garland design without using solid black balloons.
The Popcorn Bar
Instead of doing a dessert table or candy buffet as the focal point, we went with a sweet-and-savory Popcorn Bar. This was so much fun to design and a huge hit with the guests! We ordered five different flavors from The Popcorn Store, including unique varieties like Confetti and classics like Cheddar. Extra “to go” bags of yummy Caramel Peanut Popcorn were also available to take home.
I used large bushel baskets for the popcorn and trimmed them with black and white fabrics (and farmhouse style labels, of course!). A variety of popcorn seasonings (Urban Accents brand) were displayed on a metal wall shelf. Galvanized metal pails and mason jars were used to hold most of the popcorn bar toppings.
BTW – several jars/containers of toppings are missing in these pictures because we didn’t set them out until RIGHT when the party started… it was HOT that day, and we were trying to prevent melting!
Advice and Wishes Table
I used this station as an opportunity to highlight the graduate’s love of Disney (something shared by her entire family!). Take a closer look at it here.
The Entrance
Guests were greeted with a small display table of photos and the (decorated) graduation cap, a congrats poster of the graduate, and a designated table for cards & gifts. I printed the 18×24″ poster at Staples and displayed it on a chalkboard display stand from Amazon.
Food & Drinks
Most of the drinks were canned or bottled and available in self-serve coolers next to the signature drink table. I wanted to keep the signature drink color-coordinating, so we went with a (non-alcoholic) Sparkling Pineapple Lemonade. It was a (super tasty!) combo of Sprite, pineapple juice, and Simply Lemonade.
Wood-fired pizzas by Rolling Stone Pizza were served throughout the party. They also had fruit trays and a nacho bar! 😋 I found the Rae Dunn napkins, napkin holder, and “congrats” plates at Marshalls.
Graduation Centerpieces
I designed 5 different personalized graduation centerpieces for the banquet tables and covered those in a separate blog post. Take a closer look here!
Pictured above and below: centerpiece designs inspired by the graduate’s love of agriculture and the college she would be attending.
Another fun fact about these banquet tables… they were covered with curtain panels instead of tablecloths! Browsing curtain aisles for “tablecloths” for 6-ft banquet tables is one of my favorite party tricks. It gives you so many more design options.
I found these (Opalhouse brand) curtains at Target – and with their black and white stripes and TASSELS hanging off of the sides, they couldn’t have been more perfect for this graduation party! 🙌
